PROJECTS

Transport Seeds was formed in 2013 and the project list below only reflects major projects undertaken by the company to date.  With over 20 years' experience working in the Transport Planning industry, the people at Transport Seeds have built considerable knowledge and expertise in a wide range of transport schemes and development planning projects, which is highlighted in the list of projects below.

GUILDFORD PARK, ISLE OF WIGHT

Residential Development

Transport Seeds worked with the developers of the campsite of Guildford Road in St Helens on the Isle of Wight to develop 57 dwellings.  We provided guidance and input to the masterplan, including design of the main access junction and produced the necessary planning material in support of the application.  Following extensive discussions with the highway authority, we obtain officers' support to the proposals, which involved the recommendation for removal of on-street parking and modifications to existing Traffic Regulation Orders.

Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Homes

We are acting on behalf of both Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Homes as Travel Plan Coordinators, implementing and promoting the respective Residential Travel Plans at a number of their new developments in the South East of England.  Our involvement with multiple sites has enabled us to standardise and increase the sustainable credential within the companies in collaboration with their marketing departments.  The 5-year positions involve close working relationships with the local communities and the Councils' travel planning initiatives to promote respective events to encourage walking, cycling and use of public transport for new residents.  Specifically we worked with Hampshire County Council' Travel Plan and Marketing team to devise a consistent approach to the implementation of residential plans within Hampshire and promote these as part of the Council's own travel planning MyJourney website.

EAST COWES MARSHALLING YARD

Red Funnel Group

As part of the larger proposals to regenerate the town of East Cowes, Red Funnel is redeveloping its terminal and marshalling yard operations in East Cowes.  Transport Seeds has been working with Red Funnel from developing layout options for both the existing and the proposed new yard to the production of the necessary planning documentation for the various planning applications.  Transport Seeds also provided expert witness in support of the application for the new yard at Venture Quays, which received approval in the summer of 2017.  Since then, Red Funnel has opened the expanded Trinity yard based on the design from Transport Seeds and we are currently part of the design and construction team for the new yard at Venture Quays, principally liaising with Island Roads and the Isle of Wight Council to finalise the design of the off-site highway improvements within the town of East Cowes ready for implementation in 2019/20.

ADDLESTONE TOWN CENTRE REDEVELOPMENT

Bouygues Development on behalf of Runnymede Borough Council

When Runnymede Borough Council looked to redevelop Addlestone's town centre to complement the new Civic Centre development, they called upon Bouygues Development to deliver a masterplan proposal that includes residential, leisure and retail uses.  As part of the design team and working closely with Ramboll on civil engineering matters, Transport Seeds prepared the Transport Assessment and Travel Plan that accompanied the planning application and held discussions with Surrey County Council on Section 106 and planning condition matters to a successful conclusion.  The project received planning consent in May 2014 and has since been completed.

BRIARS HEY CARE HOME

Montpelier Estates

The redevelopment of an existing mental health unit to care home facility in the North West of England.  Working with David Tucker Associates, Transport Seeds' involvement focused on the completion of a Transport Statement and the development of an access strategy that is sympathetic to the environment, particularly the setting of the on-site listed building and landscaping fronting the highway.

PORT OF POOLE MASTERPLAN

Poole Harbour Commissioners

Working with the Borough of Poole, the Port Harbour Commissioners (PHC) are giving consideration to proposals for the port of Poole, including a new marina of 950 berths, to continue to meet their statutory duties and responsibilities in maintaining the Port of Poole and its international reputation.  Alongside Ramboll Enviromental team, Transport Seeds prepared a Transport Assessment and the Transport chapter to the Environmental Statement forming part of the Environmental Impact Assessment that accompanied the Harbour Revision Order application to the Maritime Coastguard Agency. Since then, the reports have been endorsed by BOP and the Highways Agency.

LLANDINAM WIND FARM

CeltPower Ltd

A two year project working for Celtpower Lt (Scottish Power and Eurus Energy UK) on the delivery of part of the mid-Wales' wind farm policy.  A co-joined Public Inquiry to consider five separate application sites was held over an 18-month period for which David Tucker from DTA provided evidence with help from Transport Seeds, including production of a Water Preferred Strategy document in accordance with the Highways Agency's Abnormal Load Team requirements, preparation of Inquiry documentation including Statement of Common Grounds and main Evidence.
